A Good Place

This program offers up to 24 months of stable housing, as well as case management support to help adult men transition to permanent housing. Housing is located in Springfield in an 8-bedroom, ADA-compliant, 2-story, modernized, wood-framed home. Each resident has their own private bedroom and shares community and kitchen spaces with other residents.

Each bedroom is subsidized by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), which means tenants are required to pay just 30% of their income toward rent.

For each individual in the program, a service plan is developed to assist with stabilization and transition, such as daily life skills for independence when residents are ready to transition to permanent housing.

Referrals for the transitional housing program come from a number of different sources. These include other BSAS funded programs, as well as community providers of residential treatment services or homeless supports. Self-referrals are welcome.

As residents transition out of Transitional Housing, or are already housed in the community, needs are assessed to consider such factors as access to community providers, understanding of environmental risk factors, financial stability, and transportation needs.

Supportive Case Management services are provided to ensure the tenant’s income is sufficient to sustain their housing—and to assist with connecting individuals with all available resources. Services are provided on an outreach basis to individuals who are living in the community and are focused on housing stability and sustained recovery.

Adults over the age of 18 years old who are in early recovery from substance use disorder and their families are eligible for this program and there are no out-of-pocket costs to enroll.

Referrals for the permanent housing program come from a number of different sources, including housing providers, recovery programs, and hospitals. Self-referrals are welcome.
